Home Bleep Home
Stranger Photos Have Happened, Vol. 1
Virginia-Highland Edition (Atlanta, Georgia)
I tied a disposable camera to a bench in Atlanta with a sign that read:
Good afternoon,
I attached this camera to the ben
ch so you could take pictures. Seriously. So have fun. I'll be back later this evening to pick it up.
Love, Jay / The Plug

When I retrieved the camera that night, I was happy to find that the entire roll of film (and then some) had been shot. Below are the photos that were taken.

(I picked just a few of the pictures)

I wanna do this.

really really badly.

once it warms up, I think I will.
question is, where should I leave it?
harvard square?
the common?
copley?

and what do you think, would a saturday be the best?

a couple of weeks ago I was sitting in a local community center waiting to see if somebody there could help me with my taxes (they were running a free clinic. and they couldn't. damn foreign income threw a wrench in it) and I saw a poster for a walk for hunger sponsored by Project Bread, a massachusetts-based anti-poverty organization.

and I thought "hmmmm, I should do that."

and then forgot about it.

and then I saw a sign on the side of a bus and started to think about it again.

so I signed up and started a team!
the walk is on the 30th of april here in boston, and all proceeds go to over 400 emergency food organizations that Project Bread is partnered with.

tis a good cause.

so if you would like to donate, or even better, if you would like to join the team and walk all or part of the 20 miles round beautiful down-town boston, follow the link to our team homepage!

every little bit helps!

cheers!!

I want a tatoo.

I've wanted one for a while now, but never acutely enough to actually go through the process to get one.

but then my little sister got one. and I was like "well if molly got one..."
I need some gentle prodding to get around to doing most things in my life.

so!
photos of tattoos I have found over the years and really liked and thus saved as inspiration:

(there are some more somewhere, but I can't seem to find them...)

trends seem to be: monochromatic, on the smaller side and pictorial rather than textural.
they also apparently all include birds. which I don't know if its because I really like birds or if the people who get the types of tattoos I prefer really like birds.
(in the interest of full disclosure, molly got a tattoo of a bird, though hers is bigger than the ones pictured above and located on the side of her hip. I'm not gonna lie, I was a teeny tiny bit bummed when she told me cause I had been looking at birds and we all know how it looks if the younger trendier sister gets a bird tattoo and then the older not so hip sister gets a bird tattoo. I was hoping she would get something more common and popular, like a butterfly. then again, maybe birds are the new butterflies.)

placement thoughts:
ankle: when I was in grade school my swimming instructor had a vine tattooed around her ankle and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. and then I learned that is is also just about the most painful place you can get a tattoo, as it is all bone and no fat. and I do not like pain. it hurts me. (uber extra bonus points if you can name that cartoon) so that kinda fell by the wayside for a bit. but it's still one of my favorite tattoo spots. maybe if I take a couple of shots first...

wrist: have seen these around a lot. I'm a fan. nice, small, simple. delicate almost. I like it.

base of the neck: dani, my friend and flatmate over in london, has a tattoo at the base of her neck. and it just looked so natural there. simple, non-complex tattoos look almost organic at the base of the neck. it pretty much automatically made it's way onto my 'possible tattoo' list.

some more consideration and ponderness is obviously in order, but I do believe the wheels are finally in motion.

texas a&m kicked some serious butt in the womens ncaa national championship game last night.

I would have been rooting for them anyways, cause you can't root for the team (notre dame) that kicked your team (uconn) out of the tournament.
you just don't do that.

but if I had read this article before the game I'd have been rooting for 'em regardless.

the basketball team from the school that didn't allow women to enroll until 1963, that had to be sued in permit women in the marching band in the mid-80's and whose women's sports teams have always been considered secondary to the mens teams?

damn straight they just won the national championship.

if it couldn't be uconn, I'm glad it was texas a&m.

hooray basketball!

I ask you.

finished reading Slapstick last night.
it was fabulous.

only took me two nights to read the whole book.

now pretty much going to delve immediately into the other vonnegut novel I have that I found in a box of free books in the basement of my building.

finally getting some pictures up of our trip to nyc to see baby ellie!

not only is new york a fabulous city (especially when your hotel is central park adjacent) but ellie is really really cute.
it was good to see family.
so good in fact, that the camera didn't make it's way out of my bag all that much.

but snagged a few decent photos.
buildings, trees and babies are awfully photogenic.
