how come the wicked cool bags are also so wicked expensive?

I've been running up against this again and again.

sigh...

30 March 2011

.
I'm catching up on my 'wait wait don't tell me' podcasts and streaming the 'first listen' of a swedish pop band (as one is wont to do) when I hear this:

"npr is brought to you in part by pabst blue ribbon, supporting the arts."

say what now?

something here does not quite compute....

usually "march madness" is just a term limited to one, maybe two really big late-round upsets.

not this year.

there is not one first or second seed team left in this thing.
(talking about the men, btw)

there was only one highest seed left in the elite eight, and they got taken out by 8th seeded butler saturday.

in the final four we have an 11th seed (for only third time in tourney history), an 8th seed, a 6th seed and the highest ranked is a 3rd seed (uconn).
that's the highest combined seeds in the final four ever.

apparently only 2 out of 5.9 million people who entered their ncaa brackets on espn.com had butler, kentuky, uconn and vcu (virginia commonwealth university, for those not in the know) reaching the final four.

I was most definitely not one of them.

though I did pick uconn.
1 out of 4 ain't half bad, considering the circumstances.

so from here on out, uconn to win it all!!

(already had the huskies at the top o' the tournament for the women)

GO UCONN!!!

.
hooray, it's snowing!!!!

and yeah, it's technically the first day of spring.

but this is new england.
spring don't really kick in til after easter, at least.

march is still fair game.

SNOW!

it's that time of year again.

you know what I'm talking about.

when pundits are in their natural habitats, rabid fans come out in droves and everybody tries to make a few bucks in the office pool.

IT'S MARCH MADNESS TIME BABY!

woohoo!
and this girl could not be more excited!
been out of the country for the last two tourneys. gotta surround myself with some college basketball goodness!

so you know the drill.
I post my hastily assembled brackets up here, and after each round of games update you as to how awesome or (more likely) dismal I have done.
without further ado:
(will have to click on them to make them larger and readable.)

men's. pretty straight forward. tried to cut out duke much earlier (booooo duke!) but as much as I tried, they're just too good. damn. and my uconn in the final four may be wishful thinking...

women's. now this is something I have never done before.
have my final four be all number one seeds.
usually I try to get at least a three in there.
but to be completely honest, in this case I just don't see it going down any other way.
we'll see what happens.

either way, in both cases...GO UCONN!!!

and, just because last years was so darn fun, Muppet Madness!

rizzo for the win!

I gots me some new digs.

close to work.

down the street from the lib-i-dary.

awesome roomies.

5 minutes away from the most phenomenal burger you've ever tasted.
[I'm talking about the double gunniess cheeseburger. oh. my. god.]

and it comes with a kitty cat.

not bad.
not bad.

.
.
so something I already knew has been driven home lately.

I am a much faster reader than I am a writer.

I had finally caught up with my book "reviews", and I am already 5 behind again.

but on the upside, I am almost a quarter of the way to my 100 book goal, and it's only the beginning of march!
take that bitches!

this reading thing's a breeze.

.
.
this is just so very very cool.

from honestlywtf:
Public installation artist and urban planner Candy Chang converted a wall of an abandoned home in her New Orleans neighborhood into something inspiring. With chalkboard paint, stencils and some chalk, residents can now write their dreams on this wall. “It’s about turning a neglected space into a constructive one where we can learn the hopes and aspirations of the people around us.”

how easy do you think it would be to make this?

cause it looks damn delicious right bout now.

[round 4:30 is the worst time to get hungry. almost evening, so it's almost too late for an afternoon snack, but still too early for dinner. I usually eat many many things anyways, but the point still stands.]
